On the back of your laptop there will be a port labeled AC the port is usually round with a prong in the middle or on some Dell's a almost square shaped. Take the Ac adapter that was included in the box. Plug one side into the Ac outlet nearest you and the other end into the plug you already located on your laptop. With the system off your battery will charge.
